2020: COVID-19 Shut-Down

Like most schools across North America, Stanstead College was forced to temporarily suspend on-campus operations in March 2020 due to the global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The goverment-ordered shut-down occured just as students and teachers left for March break. Over the next several weeks, the administration met to determine how the school year would continue.

As the March break ended, teachers gathered remotely for two weeks using Microsoft Teams and other platforms to plan and train on how to deliver coursework online.
Distance Learning began April 13, with half hour classes in the morning (local time), most live, some recorded. Assemblies and speeches were presented three days a week.

The school year ended without a prom or the usual festivities. A variety show and Baccalaureate service were pre-recorded and presented on YouTube.

The 2020-21 school year opened as scheduled and in person, although with a number of international students beginning their studies online. By December, most international students had been allowed to enter Canada, with a 14-day mandatory quarantine upon entry.
